Dr.Tam Nguyen
My purposes
Every journey begins with a purpose.
Mine has always been guided by a simple belief: education can open global doors and transform lives.
I am Dr. Tam T.T. Nguyen, an academic leader, educator, and researcher with more than two decades of experience across Vietnam, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Japan. My professional path bridges leadership, sustainability, global citizenship, and human development, shaped by both academic rigor and real-world impact.
From Public Service to Global Academia
My journey began in Vietnam’s public sector and higher education system, where I worked as a lecturer and training specialist in public administration and governance. Early on, I became deeply interested in how leadership, policy, and education can empower individuals—particularly women and young people—to create positive social change.
That curiosity led me beyond borders. Through prestigious international fellowships, including the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship in the United States and the Australia Awards Scholarship, I pursued advanced studies and global exposure at institutions such as Monash University and the University of Washington. These experiences reshaped my worldview and strengthened my commitment to ethical leadership and global collaboration.
Academic Leadership with Purpose
I hold a PhD in Business (Management and Leadership) from Monash Business School, where my doctoral research explored paradoxical leadership and innovation in the Vietnamese public sector. Since then, my academic career has grown across teaching, research, and leadership roles.
I currently serve as Dean of the Faculty of Business at Swinburne University of Technology Vietnam, where I oversee curriculum design, faculty development, and industry-embedded programs. Alongside this role, I lecture and supervise students in Vietnam and internationally, including collaborations with Leeds Beckett University and Western Sydney University.
My teaching philosophy is student-centred, experiential, and globally oriented—connecting theory with real-world challenges in sustainability, digital transformation, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Research, Mindfulness, and Global Citizenship
My research focuses on leadership development, mindfulness, global citizenship education, sustainability, and innovation. I have published in international journals and academic books, and I regularly present at global conferences across Asia-Pacific and Europe.
Beyond publications, I am passionate about translating research into practice. I lead and consult on projects related to digital transformation, public policy, SME development, and e-government, working closely with universities, government agencies, and industry partners.
I am also the Founder of Bamboo Academia, a platform dedicated to leadership development, mindfulness, and lifelong learning—rooted in Asian wisdom and global perspectives.
